Constructed Void X Herman K

In the heart of Copenhagen, opening for the 3 Days of Design 2026, the new permanent installation of Prolicht in the hall of the Herman K hotel turns its attention to the atrium as a constructed void. The edges of the floor slabs, the horizontal walkways, the diagonal flights of stairs, the slender balustrade rods — these lines trace the hollow space without occupying it. What emerges is an architecture whose essential material is not concrete or steel alone, but the space held between them.

Here, the line becomes an act of definition. It gives contour to emptiness and transforms absence into form.

Within the atrium, the void is not accidental or residual. It is constructed, framed, and made perceptible. It is a space of distance, of sightlines, and of relationships. The empty volume becomes a stage on which movement, light, and perspective unfold.

This spatial condition is made particularly tangible through the light installation. Precisely positioned lines hover within the airspace, introducing a second framework alongside the strict geometry of staircases and balustrades. They do not fill the void; rather, they inscribe themselves into it. Like a luminous coordinate system, they reveal how emptiness can take on spatial presence.

The exhibition tells a story of how only a few drawn lines can be enough to make the invisible dimensions of space perceptible — to loosen the apparent solidity of the structure and invite a radically different reading of the architecture.

Visitors are invited to read the space in this way, and to continue imagining the hidden geometries that could shape it.

SEN draws with light in an empty space.

SEN is a modular linear lighting system that connects, extends, and turns to form illuminated structures in space. Suspended in the air or mounted to architectural surfaces, it adapts to the spatial conditions of its environment.

Curated for this exhibition, SEN inhabits the atrium: lines of light move through the volume, defining its emptiness and rearticulating the existing architecture. The luminous tubes give rhythm and direction, while matte brushed connectors become visible points of transition — pauses, joints, and moments of intention.

The system grows through connection: every meeting point defines a new path, every connection carries power, and every docking point is treated as a design element. What may appear decorative is grounded in architectural and functional logic.

The defined modular sizes of the tubes provide a clear framework for planning, proportional balance, and scalable configurations in response to spatial parameters. The result is a lighting structure that shifts between minimal linear gestures and expressive spatial compositions, transforming light into a medium for drawing, structuring, and experiencing space.

The exhibition marks SEN’s first permanent installation in an architectural setting, placing the system within a context where its modular logic, material presence, and spatial potential unfold at full scale.

Prolicht X Oido.
This section of the exhibition hosted in the hotel cellar invites visitors to encounter architecture not as a mere accumulation of mass, but as a complex interplay of lines, surfaces, and volumes that define, enclose, and activate space.

The volumes that shape a room influence not only its visual appearance, but also its acoustic character. In collaboration with our partner Oido, an acoustic experience has been developed that draws attention to the subtle relationship between space, material, light and sound.

Contrasting material qualities enter into a deliberate dialogue: rough concrete surfaces are set against the soft, fibrous textures of acoustic materials. In this tension between hardness and softness, density and absorption, the architecture becomes perceptible through sight, sound, and touch.
Prolicht high performance architectural light fixtures, as the Oiko Pro Silent Beam and the Bioniq are used in this area to create the atmosphere, with full focus on light control and holistic visual confort for visitors.

About Prolicht:
PROLICHT is an international premium manufacturer of architectural lighting solutions, shaped by a shift in perspective: away from the product, towards people. “Designed to Create” reflects a commitment to enabling creative freedom: PROLICHT develops lighting systems that enable architects and designers to shape spaces in atmospheric, functional and emotional ways.

Rather than the product itself, the outcome of light takes centre stage – spaces that resonate, atmospheres that perform, and experiences that leave a lasting impression. Light is not an object, but a tool for design, mood and transformation. PROLICHT operates as a platform for ideas: flexible light systems, digital tools, fast production and reliable support enable seamless planning, uncompromising quality and results that inspire – fostering creative freedom and meaningful collaboration.

Based in Tirol (Austria), active worldwide.
